Day 8 – Switzerland

Day 8 – Switzerland
St. Beatus Caves

Despite reaching Grindelwald around 2am, the guys and I woke up at 8am. We only had half a day in Switzerland and so we had to make the most of it. This was the view I woke up to.

Mystical mountains.

It was raining quite heavily, and most of the facilities in the cities were closed. It turns out we arrived too late for any winter activities, but too early for any summer activities. The mountains were majestic, so we decided to hike in the rain to see them up close.

The natural beauty of this place was stunning. The rain actually made the colors around us to pop even more.

We returned from our hike and had 30 minutes to check out of our hotel. There was a mad dash to pack and prepare some food for the day. Our room had a kitchen, and Steven made us some sandwiches.

We got into our car, and took a short drove from Grindelwald to Interlaken to check out the St. Beatus Caves. The walkway to the caves was filled with waterfalls.

It was a nice change to be surrounded by nature instead of buildings.

The caves were inside this large mountain. It was filled with stalagmites and stalactites.

Around sunset time, we departed Interlaken and took a 4-hour long drive back to Milan. Here’s a short hyperlapse of our drive.

The next day was going to be our last full-day in Europe, and we were going to continue our road trip down south to Cinque Terre.
